The background

So this is the story before it all begins, the prequel if you will...

Lauren and Royston met in George where Lauren had lived for 6 years and Royston for 2. They had gravitated around each other in social circles and places of interest and although having noticed her, time and time again, Royston took 3 years to gather the courage and confidence to talk to her. One night at a festival in Knysna, Lauren all dressed up in her skin tight cat suit, Royston could not resist...

Well, I would love to say the rest is history, but Lauren made him work for her attention.

Marching of time

So the day is getting nearer. I know Lauren's getting nervous... Well I would be if I was marrying me! Just a quick note to share the excitement of progress. The planning is going swimmingly and Lauren is an absolute champ juggling our private life, her work responsibilities, finding us a house and putting up with me and still putting in a sterling effort with the planning. This note's main purpose is to address Lauren, "Thank you for your effort my baby love!"

A larger slice of time

Stellenbosch is a beautiful village set in such a magnificent setting. It's beauty certainly is one of the reasons, apart from Lauren having grown up here, that we decided to start our lives here. We hope that our day shared with you will be just a small slice of the time and memories that we create here. To try to entice you to linger in this beautiful locale we have provided a few accommodation options for you to consider. We have provided a few options for different budgets. Comment on the blog to let people know where you have booked. Ideas and suggestions always welcome!

Directions to the beautiful day

Now, we are generally navigationally challenged, especially Royston... so we specifically chose a venue that even we could find...

Address is: Blaauwklippen Wine Estate, Strand Road (R44), Stellenbosch.

On the road from Strand to Stellenbosch, the farm is located on the right hand side, opposite the Protea Hotel, Techno Park and approximately 3 kilometres before the town itself.

Airport
You can travel to Blaauwklippen by rental car or taxi in approximately 30 minutes:

After landing in Cape Town, take the N2 in the direction of George. At the Stellenbosch exit, turn left onto the R44 (Broadway Blvd). Stay on this road until you see a sign for the Blaauwklippen estate on the right. Turn right. The gate to the farm is located less than 100 meters down the road.

Cape Town/harbour

You can drive to Stellenbosch by taxi or rental car from Cape Town or the harbour:

Take the N2 as described above. Alternatively, you can take the N1 in the direction of Paarl. At Paarl Outlying, turn right on to the R44 (Adam Tas Street). Stay on this road until you see a sign for the Blaauwklippen wine farm on the left.

GPS-Coordinates

Website Directions
type: "Blaauwklippen Wine Estate" into the search bar and click on "Get Directions" then insert your starting point into the second bar provided. You may need to switch the two bars "A" and "B" in order to go the correct direction.

If all else fails, please call Lauren in the week leading up to the wedding, and not on the big day itself! Call Royston at your own risk...

All's well that ends well

With safety and convenience at front of mind, we have planned a shuttle service to and from the centre of Stellenbosch on the big day. We are in the process of finalising the details. The plan is for the shuttle to operate from 14h30 to 15h30 on 3 March and again from 11h00 to 02h30 on 3 and 4 March to return our precious guests safely to their place of rest. With this in mind, if you plan on making use of the service, please book accommodation in or near Stellenbosch Village itself.

Also, and most importantly, please confirm the number of people that plan to make use of it by commenting below this post.
